Step 3: Draw
Waiting for your list · 1 winner
This site does not log in to Instagram and does not fetch comments by itself: you copy the list and paste it. See how to copy the comments.
How do you pick a winner for an Instagram giveaway?
Copy the comments of the giveaway post, paste them in the box above, choose how many winners and backups you want and press Draw. The picker removes repeated comments, can keep one entry per account or require tagged friends, and gives you a verification code and a link that repeats the same result.
Nothing you paste leaves your device, and there is no account to create. If you want the rules of the giveaway ready before you post, use the giveaway rules generator.
How to copy the comments of an Instagram post
This site does not read the comments for you. It takes about a minute to copy them.
Step 1: Open the post in a computer browser
Go to instagram.com on a computer and open the giveaway post or Reel. Text is much easier to select there than in the phone app.
Step 2: Load every comment
Scroll the comment list to the end and keep pressing the button that loads more comments until it no longer appears. Comments that are not on screen are not copied.
Step 3: Select and copy
Click before the first comment, hold Shift and click after the last one, then copy (Ctrl+C on Windows, Cmd+C on Mac).
Step 4: Paste and check
Paste in step 1 with “Copied comments” selected, then open “Check how the list was read” to see that each account is next to its own comment.
Not confirmed. How to copy comments: the steps on each platform page describe the screens in general terms. We could not test them with a signed-in account, and the apps change their menus often.
Ways to enter a giveaway on Instagram, and how to draw each one
Pick the line that matches your giveaway and set step 2 the same way.
| How people enter | Where the list comes from | Filters in step 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Comment to enter | Copy all the comments of the post. | Remove duplicate lines. Turn on “One entry per person” if each account may enter once. |
| Tag friends in the comment | Copy all the comments of the post. | Friends tagged: at least 1, 2 or 3 @mentions. Repeated tags of the same friend count once. |
| Comment with a hashtag or an answer | Copy all the comments of the post. | Must contain a word or #hashtag. |
| One entry per comment (more comments, more chances) | Copy all the comments of the post. | Leave “One entry per person” off and remove only duplicate lines. |
| Followers or people who liked | We know no simple way to copy these lists from Instagram. Use comments as the entry. | Not applicable. |
Example: 7 comments, tag 2 friends, 1 winner and 1 backup
A full draw written out. Paste the same list with the same seed on the verify page and you get the same names.
Seven comments were copied from the post.
The host account @studio.north cannot win: 1 comment out.
@ines tagged only one friend: 1 comment out.
@lena.makes commented twice and each account enters once: the second comment is out.
Four accounts take part: lena.makes, rosa_p, theo.b and kofi_. Each has 1 chance in 4.
Seed used: c0ffee00c0ffee00c0ffee00c0ffee00
Winner: theo.b · Backup: rosa_p · Code GT-AD118-66FE1
Out of 7 comments, 4 entries went into the draw. The filters run in a fixed order: accounts that cannot win, the required word, the tagged friends, repeated lines and, last, extra entries of the same person.
The code GT-AD118-66FE1 ties together the list, the seed and the names drawn. If one comment is added or removed, or a name is swapped, the code no longer matches. That is what lets someone else check your result.
Instagram giveaway rules: what the platform asks for
Read on the platform’s own page. The link and the date are under each card.
Instagram Promotion Guidelines
- You are responsible for the lawful operation of the giveaway: official rules, offer terms, eligibility (age, residency) and any registration or approval the law asks for.
- The giveaway must include a complete release of Instagram by each entrant.
- It must state that the promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram.
- Do not tag content inaccurately or encourage people to do so (for example, tagging themselves in a photo they are not in).
- Instagram does not help run the promotion; you use the service at your own risk.
“Promotions on Instagram must include the following: A complete release of Instagram by each entrant or participant. Acknowledgement that the promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram.”

What it means for your giveaway
- Put the two sentences Instagram asks for in the caption or in your rules: entrants release Instagram, and the giveaway is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Instagram.
- Asking people to tag friends in a comment is common. What Instagram’s text forbids is inaccurate tagging of content, such as asking people to tag themselves in a photo they are not in.
- Following your account cannot be checked from a pasted list. If following is a condition, look at the winner’s profile before announcing, and say in the rules that a backup takes the place when the condition is not met.
Frequently asked questions
Is this Instagram giveaway picker free?
Yes. It is free, there is no sign-up and there is no limit on the number of comments you can paste. The draw runs in your browser.
Do I have to log in with Instagram?
No. The site never asks for your password or for access to your account, and it does not read comments by itself. You copy the comments and paste them, and the draw runs in your browser.
Can it pick a winner from a post link?
No. Reading the comments behind a link would need a login to your Instagram account or access to Meta’s official API, and the site has neither. Copy the comments from the post and paste them here: the steps above show how.
How do I prove the Instagram giveaway was fair?
Publish the verification code and the proof link together with the winner. Anyone who has the same list of comments can paste it on the verify page and get the same winner and the same code. If the list or the winner had been changed, the code would not match.
Does it count one entry per account?
Only if you turn on “One entry per person”. With it off, an account that commented three different times has three entries. Repeated identical comments are removed by “Remove duplicate lines”.
Can I require people to tag friends?
Yes. Choose at least 1, 2, 3 or 5 @mentions. The picker counts different accounts mentioned in the comment and ignores the same friend tagged twice and the author’s own name.
What does Instagram require for a giveaway?
Instagram’s Promotion Guidelines say the promotion must include a complete release of Instagram by each entrant and an acknowledgement that it is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Instagram, and that you are responsible for official rules, eligibility and legal compliance.
What if the winner does not answer?
Draw backups together with the winner. They come out of the same draw, in order, and are covered by the same verification code, so you do not need a second draw.
